Spanish 4 Expectations

 

I.  We are here to learn.  In order to accomplish this, each one of us must observe the following rules.

*Be in your seat when the bell rings with all necessary materials for the day

            A.  Bring the textbook and workbook (even on test days)

            B.  Bring a notebook/ 3 ring binder (to be used in this class only)

            C.  Bring a pencil, pen and paper

II.  Absence And Make Up Of Homework/Tests

            Rules for making up missed work. (If you are excused)

                        A.  You have as many days to make up your work as the number of days

missed.

                        B.         It is your responsibility to find out what you missed.

                                    It is your responsibility to get extra help.

                                    It is your responsibility to get a pass to go to test makeup.

                                    It is your responsibility to make up your test/quiz on time.

Do not wait for a teacher to remind you about missing work.

C.  If you have missed class the day before a test (that day only) you will

be required to take the test as scheduled.

If you miss the day of the test (that day only) you will take the test the day that you return.

D.  I will put a deadline date on each quiz/test in test make up.  If you

“forget” to make up a quiz/test by that deadline you will lose credit

for it.  One letter grade will be deducted from a test for each school day that passes after the agreed deadline date.

                        E.  If there is a listening activity section on your test you must make an appointment with me to make it up.

                        F.  Unexcused absences and truancies

                             1.  Conant rules state that work can be made up from an unexcused absence, but it is lowered one letter grade.

                              2.  Conant rules state that work cannot be made up from a truancy

You will receive no credit (a zero) for any work done in class during your truancy.

 

II.  Homework           

            A.  Daily work will be checked at the beginning of each class period.  You must have your assignment on your desk when the bell rings.

            B.  Work is to be completely done. (Do not leave any blanks.)  If you are not finished you will be marked unprepared and will earn a homework zero.

C.  Homework zeroes- For each nine week period, your teacher will keep track of

how many days you were unprepared for class.  For each incident a homework zero will be marked in the grade book.  The third time you are unprepared your parents will be contacted.  After the third zero your nine-week grade will be lowered by one point for each subsequent zero.  For example:

                                    After 4 zeroes a 90% (A-) becomes an 89% (B+)

                                    After 5 zeroes a 90% (A-) becomes an 88% (B)

                                    After 6 zeroes a 90% (A-) becomes an 87% (B)

Participation policy- Everyone is expected to participate on a daily basis.  If you are absent, you may make up points by gaining several points in one day. 

 Three bathroom/ hall passes will be issued each nine weeks.  Use at your discretion.  Unused passes will be rewarded at the end of the nine weeks.

 

What is cheating?

            1.  Eyes anywhere but on your own paper

            2.  Cheat sheets or any book, notebook or assignment open during a quiz/test

            3.  Copying on quizzes, tests, dialogues and homework

            4.  Writing found on hands, desks or on backs of notebooks or folders, etc..

            5.  Any talking or whispering during the exam.  It you have a question, raise your hand.

            If a student is discovered cheating, he/she is referred to 105 and will receive zero credit for that work. 

            Parents will be notified.

 

Book fines

            1.  Tonight take home your information card and check over the text book given to you.  Check your book thoroughly and on the back of the information card note any specific damage that you found in your book.  I will save this card and read it at the end of the year.  Any marks or damage not noted on that card will become part of your book fine.

            2.  Fines will be assessed as follows:

                        Lost text book  $39

                        Lost workbook $16

                        Binding  $2.00+

                        Pen and/or pencil marks  $1.00+

                        Cover damage  $2.00+

                        Water damage  $5.00+
