The goal of this course is to enable the student to be proficient in listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural awareness on a functional level in a German environment. Expressing likes, dislikes, and opinions on a variety of topics in a spoken and written medium is a primary goal. The student will be introduced to examples of literature, poetry, art, music, and drama. Social, political, and environmental concerns will be presented. Authentic recorded media will be integral in this level of German instruction. Students will be encouraged to further communicate in German.
PREREQUISITE: L263 German 2 (A,B,C) or L167 German 2 for freshmen or department approval
LEVEL: 2,3,4 One year One unit
We will be using the third year level of Deutsch Aktuell for part of the year and then continue on with a curriculum that prepares the students for German IV. Examples of Lessons in German III: Readings of authentic German texts including Der Regenbogenfisch, Max und Moritz, Die Geschichte von Anne Frank, writing and illustrating children's books, cooking project. Students are encouraged to be creative in terms of video production and/or storyboards.
