Why join Congressional Debate?

1.  It teaches the life skill of public speaking.  

Most people are so afraid to speak in front of an audience that they keep quiet and get passed by.  Public speaking skills will allow you to be the person that gets listened to and followed.

2.  So many of the students who attend the more competitive colleges competed in debate and/or forensics. 

You will be competing against the type of student you hope to see in college.  In addition, this is more than a resume stuffer.  College admissions officers see right through a long list of membership type clubs.  They know that competing in public speaking events helps build the type of student they are looking for.                                                 

3.  We want the very best debaters in the school to represent Conant High School.  

4.  Most important of all - it is fun!
