… is the largest of the three islands on Lake Chiemsee and became world famous
through the building of the palace by the "fairy-tale king"
Ludwig II. of Bavaria. You
will have to take your time to visit the island of about 240 hectare with the
Royal Palace, the parks, the public garden and the fountains. So please make
sure that you have enough spare time to spend on the island to fully appreciate
the beauty of "Herrenchiemsee".

Tip: A hiking trail of 7 km around the island leads you to interesting places. Walking mainly through a mixed forest, away from the stream of visitors, these places offer insights into completely different aspects of "Herrenchiemsee". A walk definitely worthwhile!
