Safety Rules and Regulations: 

  1. Perform laboratory work only when the teacher is present.
  2. Your concern for the laboratory should begin before you perform any activity.  Therefore, always read the laboratory procedure before coming to class.
  3. Know the location of all safety equipment in your laboratory.  This should include the safety shower, eye-wash, first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, and blanket.
  4. Safety goggles and aprons are to be worn at all times in the laboratory.  Please do not wear sandals, and tie back all loose hair.
  5. Do not bring any books and extra clothing to your workstations.  Your lab station should be cleared of all unnecessary materials.
  6. Never taste any laboratory materials.  Gum, food and drinks should not be brought into the laboratory.
  7. If you are instructed to smell anything, do so by fanning the vapors toward your nose.  Do not place your nose on the opening of the container.
  8. Any laboratory accident, no matter how small, should be reported to the teacher immediately.
  9. In case of a chemical spill to your skin, rinse the affected area with plenty of water.
  10. Used maters and broken glass do not go into the trashcan, rather used the areas designated by your teacher for disposal.
  11.  Before leaving the laboratory, make sure the gas lines and water faucets are shit off and that your workstation is clean and dry.
  12. If in doubt, always ASK!!!
