Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes - Oct. 5, 2003
As it would be for any parent, Eric Jacobsen (Senior Survey) was devastated when he learned his infant daughter Samantha had juvenile diabetes. However, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobsen responded by becoming actively involved in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the search for a cure. The 2003 Ron Santo / Walk to Cure Diabetes was held this past Sunday (Oct. 5th) at Busse Woods. The weather cooperated as fall returned to the Chicago area after our brief foray into early winter and over 6000 walkers enjoyed the walk. This is the third year that Samantha's Steppers have participated as a team and over 300 walkers participated on behalf of Samantha and research for the cure to Juvenile Diabetes. The team is on track to raise over $20,000 for research.
